With Love from Melinda x

Dear Dave, I first met you and Sue in 1972 when my parents ‘Brenda & Doug’ brought my brother Mark, sister Sally & I from Australia, to do an adventure around the UK in a campervan. Dad renovated it in your parent's (Aunt Joan & Uncle Alf) front yard in Peterborough. Although I don’t remember a lot from back then, I do recall how funny you were and that you played games with us kids, you always seemed like a gentle giant to me. I treasure the photo of you with Mark and I on your back 😂 1991 was the last time I saw you; we visited again, this time in a ‘rented’ campervan, once again with my mum & dad, I was older and had my 5-year-old son Christopher. It was another amazing adventure we had, filled with so many wonderful memories of our visits. I never realised when we all said goodbye that this would be the last time you and I spoke, I was so sure we would see both you and Sue in Australia. Its heartwarming to know that over the years you got to meet my three adult children Christopher (again), Bradley and Kyralee during visits to the UK with my parents, each of them sharing wonderful and precious memories of you, Sue and your family. Your daughter Sam has a very special place in my heart, thanks to the wonders of the internet. Over the years we have kept each other updated on our respective families, I’ve also watched your two precious granddaughters grow up to be amazing young ladies. I can only imagine how proud you must be of your remarkable daughter and the amazing mum she is. Sue, Sam, Chris and families, I am thinking of you and hope that your happy memories of Dave/Dad/Grandad will help make it all a little bit easier. You are in my thoughts and with your family here in Australia ❤️ Rest peacefully Dave, you made this world a lot better place being in it, and I will treasure the memories of you dearly. Sending all my love and gentle hugs to you all. Melinda xxx
