Happy Memories

Created by Doug and Brenda 6 months ago
Unfortunately, because we are in Australia, we can’t be there for Dave’s funeral.

So, I have put a few thoughts down of our special memories of Dave and the times we spent together.
Brenda obviously has a much longer history with her cousin ‘Dave’, but she is now incapable of articulating her memories.

We first met Dave when we visited the UK in 1972 ~ yes 50 years ago, with our children Mark, Sally & Melinda.  We were staying with Dave’s Mum & Dad, Aunt Joan & Uncle Alf in Peterborough in preparation for our epic campervan trip around the UK.

Sue & Dave were living in a bungalow a couple of streets away.  Over the years we always visited and most times stayed with them in York & Manwaring by the sea, we shared very many happy visits to gardens, historic buildings and pubs.

Unfortunately, Sue and Dave never visited us in Australia, so we could show them what a beach is is supposed to be like, sand not rocks.
We did share many a good bottle of wine in their beautiful garden he constructed.

I could go on, but I can offer no better than to say, he was one of nature's gentleman and I am honoured to have considered him a good friend and part of our family.

I wish Brenda & I, and all our family that met Dave could be there with you and give you all a big hug.

Thinking of you all and sending our love
Doug, Brenda and family xxx
